RennRad Aero Wheel Test Winner: Swiss Side HADRON 625

Tue, Apr 18, 17

The Swiss Side HADRON aero wheels claim another test winning award! RennRad magazine from Germany (magazine 2017-5) rated our HADRON aero wheel set Nr. 1 thanks to the outstanding aerodynamics, with low cross-wind sensitivity, as well as the affordable price. This is our third major win in three consecutive years. Swiss Side HADRON wheels took aero wheel test wins in 2015 by TOUR magazine (HADRON 800+), in 2016 by Procycling (HADRON 625) and NEW 2017 with RennRad! More information about the newest aero wheel test can be found in the current issue  of RennRad magazine (April/May 2017).

Measuring Real World Performance

Thu, Apr 13, 17

Swiss Side aerodynamicists have invested years in the development and testing with our Instrumented Bike. This bike measures real world aerodynamics and most importantly, the rider reaction to wind. We can correctly model real world conditions and better understand the stability requirements the rider needs from aero wheels. This way, we ensure that our wheels deliver real performance out on the road, as measured in the wind tunnel.

Developing Bikes & Wheels Together

Thu, Apr 13, 17

Typically we see that good aero wheels will offer a performance advantage on any bike of any brand. However, we have shown that a small amount of additional absolute performance can be achieved if the bike and wheels are developed together. Two examples are the Cube Aerium C:68 and the Cube Aerium prototype, both of which were aerodynamically developed by Swiss Side and ridden by Andreas Raelert in Kona 2015 & 2016 respectively. On these bikes, we see that the best absolute performance is achieved with our Swiss Side HADRON Ultimate 800+ aero wheels because these bikes were developed around...

Humans Are A Drag

Thu, Apr 13, 17

We can’t forget that the rider is 75% of the total drag on the bike. The rider must remain stable in a low aero position as much as possible. If they are not stable, they will move up and down resulting in significant aerodynamic drag penalties and often a loss in pedaling power output.
