The BAHRAIN MERIDA PRO CYCLING TEAM has spent time in the wind tunnel with the aerodynamics experts from Swiss Side, to give their riders the competitive edge in the upcoming Grand Tours.

With a newly formed team, it is hugely important to dial the riders in perfectly on their new WARP TT bikes and to find the most efficient setup for each individual athlete.

Coming onto the highly versatile and adjustable WARP TT, the engineers are setting up each rider with the most aerodynamic yet comfortable position by adjusting the general seating position as well as dial in the settings of the cockpit according to the most efficient arm- and head position.

Besides finding the perfect symbiosis between man and machine, the MERIDA engineers also investigate, together with the assistance of Swiss Side’s Formula-1 aerodynamic specialists, what impact various details like cable routing, speed sensor positioning etc. have on the overall aerodynamics. Testing the aerodynamic properties of a broad range of components like tyres, wheels and helmets is also part of this meticulous process.

The overall goal of these extensive days in the wind tunnel is to give the team captains Vincenzo Nibali und Ion Izaguirre the cutting edge through a well tuned time trial setup in the upcoming one week stage races and three week long Grand Tours. Besides that, the team of engineers are focusing on further improvements for the strong individual time trial riders like Ramunas Navardauskas, Manuele Boaro, Kanstantsin Siutsou and David Per as well as helping time trial newcomer Ondrej Cink to maximise his talent for the race against the clock.
