Daniela Bleymehl excited ahead of the IRONMAN on home soil
Daniela Bleymehl is looking forward to be competing at the European Championship that are held in Frankfurt, only 20 kilometers apart from her home town Darmstadt, on Sunday: "The Mainova Ironman Frankfurt is not only a race on home soil, but also a real highlight in my calendar. I am excited for this race for weeks now and can't wait to start "the longest day of the year" on Sunday."
For the 30-year old it will be the third time competing in Frankfurt after 2013 (9th) and 2016 (3rd): "I advanced and improved as an athlete and believe to be better prepared as I was in my previous attempts at this race. Even if I am already qualified for the World Championship Hawaii and could race without any pressure, I am super excited and a little nervous. The race has a special meaning for me and it is a dream of mine to win in front of my home crowd."
Strong international field of athletes
Daniela Bleymehl will face a strong international field of athletes that will fight for the win. American Sarah True only moved to long distance racing in 2018 but proved to be amongst the elite athletes reaching the podium at Mainova IRONMAN Frankfurt (2nd) as well as finishing 4th at the IRONMAN World Championship Hawaii. Next to Imogen Simmonds (Switzerland), Sarah Lewis (Great Britain), Angela Naeth (Canada) and Lindsey Corbin (USA), there will be lots of athletes aiming for a good result.
The race will start on Sunday, June 30th, at 6.30am at Langener Waldsee. The official press conference will be held on Thursday at 11am at Hotel InterContinental Frankfurt.
