Daniela Bleymehl finishes 2nd in Salou and shows good form at the beginning of the season
Daniela Bleymehl proved to be in good form at Challenge Salou and commented mainly positive about her performance in which she showed an impressive bike performance once again: "All in all I am happy with my performance at this early stage of the season. Swimming in choppy conditions was very challenging and unfortunately I wasn't able to cope with it very well. On the other hand I was able to play my cards on the bike and catch up with the front group quickly."
Together with eventual race winner Judith Corachán Vaquera, Daniela Bleymehl entered transition 2 in the lead, but had to let the Spaniard go in the early stages of the run. With a "solid running performance" as coach Björn Geesmann commented, she was able to hold on to 2nd place. "Fighting off a strong runner such as Emma Pallant gives me confidence and proves to me that I am on the right track."
After the race the 30-year old quickly looked forward to the upcoming challenges: "The race clearly showed where my current level of fitness is and what I need to work on in the upcoming weeks. For that I am looking forward to my next training camp on Majorca in a week time where I have perfect conditions to train hard and be in better shape at Challenge Heilbronn. For now it is all about recovery and analyzing the race." At Challenge Heilbronn on May 19th Daniela Bleymehl will toe the line as a two time defending champion. \
