Daniela Bleymehl ranks third at The Championship

The 30-year old impresses with the fastest bike split of the day

 

Daniela Bleymehl showed a good overall performance to secure third place at The Championship, that got held at Challenge Samorin. After 4:07:17 she crossed the finish line behind two times champion Lucy Charles (4:00:25) and Radka Kahlefeldt (4:05:36) and achieved her personal goal of a podium finish.

After the race Daniela Bleymehl was happy with her performance: „I am really happy with my performance today and with the development of my fitness over the last weeks. I felt great on the bike today and set the basis for the podium finish. I think I can be optimistic about the final preparations for the Mainova Ironman Frankfurt in four weeks.

Fastest bike split of the day

Daniela Bleymehl finished the swim in 7th position (29:18) about five minutes behind leader Lucy Charles. On the bike, the athlete of Team Erdinger Alkoholfrei set the fastest bike split (2:07:16) and worked her way into 2nd position and reduced the deficit to Lucy Charles to about a minute. After a 30 second penalty because of an early mount in T1, the 30-year old started the run side by side with German Anja Ippach and was able to distance her in the first stages. 

It was Radka Kahlefeldt who set the fastest half marathon (1:19:15) and caught Daniela Bleymehl in the second half of the run. With a solid performance (1:24:42), the 30-year old secured the podium finish: „The run was challenging due to constant changes of the surface, but I am happy with the performance and take a lot of motivation into the upcoming weeks.“
