Two years after his last victory at the Eberl Chiemsee Triathlon, Michael Raelert will return to the event in the beautiful Chiemsee region. He will take on the middle-distance competition in Chieming on Sunday. "I'm looking forward to the atmosphere, the landscape and to a challenging course," says the Rostockian, "I really like to race here again." On Sunday, the eighth edition of the event includes 2 kilometers of swimming in the Lake Chiemsee, 80 kilometers of cycling and 20 kilometers of running. Two years ago, Michael Raelert took the victory in 3:39:44 hours.

Michael Raelert travels to Chieming directly from a training camp in St. Moritz. "For me, the Chiemsee region is definitely terrific," the triathlete says after experiencing numerous training days and competitions in that area. "The Alps next to the St. Moritz are very scenic, but I'm really looking forward to stay at the Lake Chiemsee again. And I do hope that I can have a successful race day, too."

Besides the defending champion Markus Fachbach from Germany his fellow countryman Horst Reichel belongs to the list of podium candidates for the middle-distance event this Sunday, and as well the local hero Julian Erhardt. "Above all, I want to focus on myself," says Michael Raelert. In St. Moritz, he has recently been doing some intensive training and is now looking forward to race in a familiar region.
