SWISS SIDE WIND TUNNEL DAYS – SETUP OPTIMIZATION BY SWISS SIDE IN THE WIND TUNNEL

A complete wind tunnel aero-optimisation, like that done for Swiss Side professional athletes such as Andy Raelert. This dream came true for Markus Ganser (44 from Stolberg, Germany) and Finn Borg (60 from Wädenswil, Switzerland). Markus and Finn treated themselves to a day in the wind tunnel with Swiss Side in Immenstaad, with the goal of making their bike setup more aerodynamic and therefore faster. Both of these age group athletes have competed several times at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii and were interested in learning more about the benefits of aerodynamics in the cycling world. Their goal was clear, to benefit Swiss Side’s unique Formula 1 experience and methods to save them valuable minutes in their next races. During their wind tunnel, various riding positions were evaluated as well as different equipment such as aero wheels, hydration systems, race suits and helmets.

At the end of the day, Swiss Side was able to make significant aerodynamic improvements on both riders, with drag reductions over 20 watts each. Finn is the new Swiss Side record holder for the total amount of power saved. With the new changes made to Finn’s setup, Swiss Side was able to reduce his drag by 30 watts, which translates to an improvement of 10 minutes in his long distance races.
We are excited to have been able to make significant improvements for each Markus and Finn to give them an additional competitive edge in their upcoming races.

Swiss Side opens a new chapter, now offering wind tunnel testing possibilities not only for our pro-athletes but also to normal age group athletes, in a continued commitment to demonstrate and deliver real world performance at all levels.
