Swiss Side Aero Tip - Bidon Business
TRUE OR FALSE? A double bottle holder behind the saddle is slower than single bottle holder
Despite popular belief, this is FALSE. The airflow in the area directly behind the rider’s rear is completely separated and the air there typically gets spun around and sucked along with the rider. So there is no relative airspeed to the rider in this pocket of air. In other words, it’s a bit of a dead spot. So putting objects such as drink bottles or repair kits here does not generate any aerodynamic drag.
Our pro tip? Position your bottles as close to your butt as possible, and not too low down, so they are nicely placed in the dead area behind you.
