EVOLUTION DER TRIATHLONRÄDER: 20 MINUTEN SCHNELLER IN 20 JAHREN – EIN VERGLEICHSTEST (tri2B.com, Sept-2015)

What impressed us most with the Hadron 625 was its ability to accelerate. After testing the similarly priced Zipp 60 last year, I was surprised at how much better the Hadron 625 was at stop and go accelerations. While the Zipp 60 can feel sluggish and hard to get going, the Hadron 625 gets up to speed quickly, and feels lively sprinting out of corner.

Swiss Side Hadron 485 and 800+ wheels – just in (bikeradar.com, May-2015)

To summarise, the 800+ is an 80mm deep aero wheelset that costs €1,192 (about £850 / US$1,322 / AU$1,680); the Hadron 485 is 485mm deep set that comes in at €1,158 (about £825 / US$1,285 / AU$1,630).
That puts both sets at less than 50 percent the price of equivalent depth Zipp Firecrest models – the industry leading wheels that Swiss Side’s Hadron 625 beat in an open wind tunnel test. You can mix and match front and rear wheels and there’s also a ceramic bearing upgrade for €60.

TOUR MAG FEATURES THE SWISS SIDE HADRON 625 AS A REFERENCE AERO-WHEEL SET (tour-magazin.de, Feb-2015)

In this month’s edition (2015 Nr.2) of both the english TOUR-International online publication and the german print TOUR Magazine, the Swiss Side Hadron 625 is featured as a reference aero-wheel set for a unique test comparing expensive vs affordable aero road bikes. The aerodynamic performance between 16 of the industry’s best aero road bike frames, with price tags from EUR 1’700 to 10’000, is put to the test in the wind tunnel.
The question asked by TOUR, is whether or not good aerodynamic performance can also be purchased affordably? TOUR magazine also once again, objectively compares the trade-off between aerodynamics and weight, as the more affordable aero road bikes tended to be slightly heavier.
The conclusions are clear… Aerodynamic performance always trumps weight and the wheels make the biggest difference! With the Swiss Side Hadron 625 and a reasonably priced affordable aero frame, you can have top level performance and speed, without having to pay top dollar!

TRIATHLON MAGAZINE TESTS THE HADRON 625 (tri-mag.de, Feb-2015)

In this month’s February edition of german’s top selling ‘Triathlon’ magazine, the Hadron 625 has been tested. Testing was conducted both in the wind tunnel as well as out on the road in order to get the objective aerodynamic performance figures, as well as to see how this performance transfers to the real world.
The conclusions… The Hadron 625 (62.5mm) is almost equal in performance to the deeper industry benchmark aero wheel set, the Zipp 808 (82mm). The road testing confirmed an adequate level of stiffness, good braking performance (thanks to aluminium braking surfaces) and very low cross-wind sensitivity.
Triathlon’s summary: As of now, high performance no long longer needs to be expensive. Highly recommended!

RCUK TOP 100 CYCLING PRODUCTS OF 2014 (Roadcyclinguk.com, Nov-2014)

Swiss Side invested considerable time and effort in the development of the Hadron 625, and it’s possible to feel the benefits of an extensive wind tunnel testing programme on the road in the ability of the wheel set to retain speed on flat and undulating roads. Swiss Side founder Jean-Paul Ballard is an aerodynamicist with the Sauber Formula One team by day and the Hadron 625, which combines an aluminium braking track with a carbon shroud, measure 62.5mm deep in a design which adopts a toroidal profile to improve crosswind stability, and 23mm wide, which in turn allows the tyre to adopt a broad footprint on the road.

Swiss Side Hadron 625 wheels available to pre-order (Road.cc, 2-April-2014)

Swiss Side’s new Hadron 625 aero clincher wheels, which the brand claims to offer a 1% performance improvement over ‘the world’s best aero wheel’, will be available to pre-order in a fortnight.
Swiss Side say that the results from their wind tunnel testing have been “unreal”, and claim that the Hadron 635 outperforms the ‘world’s best deep profile aero wheel’. Swiss Side don’t name this wheel, but they say it’s from a ‘big brand’ and it’s 82mm deep, so we assume (dangerous, we know) they’re talking about the Zipp 808. Click here to read more

TECHNOLOGY

REAL TECHNOLOGIES ONLY! NO GIMMICKS, ONLY RELEVANT, REAL PERFORMANCE TECHNOLOGIES, BACKED UP BY REAL DATA, PROVEN TO MAKE YOU FASTER!

F1-AERODYNAMICS
Arrow down icon

Swiss Side’s technical team has over 50 years of combined experience from Formula 1. Our aerodynamic development processes come from deep within the closed circles of F1 and are absolutely unmatched in the cycling industry.

Featuring a 4-armed development process consisting of Computational Fluid Dynamics, Wind Tunnel Testing, Instrumented Bike on-road testing, and Performance Simulation, Swiss Side is revolutionizing aerodynamics in the cycling industry.

F1-STRUCTURES

Once again, Swiss Side’s technical team has unmatched know-how in structural design and FEM (Finite Element Modeling) in both metallic and composite structures. Like this we bring you the best structural designs, intelligent material selection & usage, and industry leading structural optimisation processes.

ULTRA-AERO FRONT HUB
Arrow down icon

Size is everything! The Swiss Side front hub features a minimal design for ultimate in aerodynamic performance. A cylinder is the worst aerodynamic shape for drag and frontal area is the enemy. Therefore the front hub diameter is sized as small as possible without compromising in bearing longevity, rolling resistance, or overall stiffness, to give the maximum possible performance. Minimum size also = Minimum weight, with our aluminium forged and CNC post-machined front hub weighing in at only 74g!

Deep groove cartridge bearings and tolerance matched hub assembly means no pre-load, no adjustment, just trouble-free riding.

SPOKE TENSION OPTIMISED REAR HUB
Arrow down icon

The Swiss Side rear hub is designed to offer an even balanced spoke tension between drive and non-drive sides. This ensures superior handling (no lateral rim movement with bump) as well as longer life for both hub and rim due to reduced overall spoke tension. The aluminum rear hub is forged and CNC post-machined with triple-pawl, micro-shuffle drive freehub, weighing in at 218g.

Deep groove cartridge bearings and tolerance matched hub assembly means no pre-load, no adjustment, just trouble-free riding.

HIGH MODULUS CARBON FIBRE ...
Arrow down icon

Using composite FEM optimized carbon fibre laminates, including high modulus fibres, Swiss Side wheels are optimized for the ultimate balance of stiffness, strength, robustness and light weight construction.

2-PIECE STRUCTURAL CONTROL
Arrow down icon

Swiss Side’s 2-piece structure allows for lighter weight construction and better independent tuning of the lateral and vertical stiffness characteristics. Result: comfort (vertical compliance) without loss in power transfer (lateral stiffness).

EPIC SOUNDTRACK
Arrow down icon

Through the 2-piece hybrid construction, Swiss Side wheels offer the ultimate in carbon wheel sound, unanimously loved by all Swiss Side customers. Your competitors will hear you as you approach and pass them with your “woom woom!”.

As in Formula 1 and the aviation industry, smooth surface finish is imperative for minimising the drag on cycling wheels. For this reason, Swiss Side graphics are applied with ultra thin, step-less transfer technology decals, applied directly onto the carbon fibre surface, just like on Formula 1 car wings.

Swiss Side HADRON Ultimate wheels come as standard with industry leading Enduro ceramic hybrid deep groove cartridge bearings. ABEC-5 tolerances and LLB seals with Graphite Nylon retainers are premium features that are not available in other brand ceramic hybrid bearings at two or even five times the cost. Oversized Silicon Nitride Grade 5 balls and cryogenic treatment of the ABEC-5 races ensure long lasting, smooth rolling bearings for greater durability and ultimate speed.
