Why should I buy Swiss Side`s aerodynamic wheels, instead of competitors?
The HADRON aero wheels are aerodynamically superior through Swiss Side's unequaled aerodynamic development methods. We bring the latest technologies, top-level engineering know-how, and people together to ensure the highest level of Swiss Side’s engineering capability and to produce an unrivaled product at a competitive price point.

We offer real technologies only. No gimmicks, only relevant, real performance technologies, backed up by real date, proven to make you faster!
Where can I buy Swiss Side wheels?
Swiss Side HADRON aero wheels are available to buy online here.
We also have a select few retail partners who stock our wheels. You can find all retailers here.
Are Swiss Side wheels hooked or hookless?
All our wheels have hooks (except GRAVON 420) because it is safer and the tyre can not come off easily.
Hookless run with wider tyres, but are slower in every aspect.
Which wheels do you suggest for road cycling and triathlon/time trial?
The 650/650 or 680/680 and 550/550 combinations are recommended for road riding. For hilly and changing wind conditions, the 550/550 offer more wind stability at the cost of some aero performance. Overall, the fastest solution for the most hilly races is the 650 or 680 set. “Aero is King/Queen!”
The HADRON³ Ultimate and Classic 850 are recommended only for time trial and triathlon. The combination of a 650 or 680 (front) and 850 (rear) setup is the most recommended for any wind conditions or for those athletes who are sensitive to the wind. At an extreme, the combination of a 550 and 850 setup can also be applied for very challenging wind conditions for very lightweight riders.
Are Swiss Side wheels UCI legal?
Yes, our wheels are UCI-legal.
Exception: With the new UCI ruling as of 01.01.2026, the HADRON³ Ultimate 680 is no longer legal for UCI road racing.
Will Swiss Side wheels fit my bike?
Our wheels are 700cc which is the standard road bike wheel size. Provided you have a standard-sized road bike, then our wheels will fit your bike.
How quickly can a carbon rim wear down during breaking?
It's important to know that brakes only overheat and potentially cause a blowout if they are continuously and excessively engaged for a prolonged period. You probably are aware that proper braking involves applying them and then releasing gradually, repeating this process throughout the entire descent. Most blowouts occur when the rim overheats due to sustained braking.
You cannot damage the rim by braking; what matters is that during a descent, you avoid constantly keeping the brakes engaged, which would overload the rim.
Does the Disc brake wheel come with the rotor?
Disc brake wheels do not come with the lock nut (= disc brake rotor) nor the lock ring, because this is specific to the bike.
Are the Swiss Side 180 hub and the DT Swiss 180 identical?
The hubs are identical except for the rear hub internals. The hub outer shapes are identical. However, the Swiss Side rear hub internals use the ratchet system rather than the DT Swiss EXP system. We do this to save costs for the end customers, without loss in actual performance.
Can Swiss Side produce wheels for small individuals/road bikes upon request?
We are not able to produce wheels for small individuals/bikes, such as 26 or 27.5 inches, for example.
Can I buy other Swiss Side wheels than 700c/622/28 inch?
No. All Swiss Side wheels are 700c/622/28 inch.
We are not able to provide you with custom sizes or other cycling wheel sizes.
Is there a significant aerodynamic difference when opting for a higher rim with a wider tire compared to a lower rim with a narrower tire?
Also considered is the fluid transition from tyre to rim, which is crucial from an aerodynamic perspective.
The HADRON² All-Road features a wider inner rim width of 22mm and is optimised for 28mm to 32mm tyres.
The HADRON³ Ultimate or Classic wheels have an inner rim width of 22mm and are optimised for 25mm and 28mm tyres.
Ultimately, it depends on the tyre sizes and road surfaces you plan to use your wheels on.
If you mainly ride on the road with 25mm to 28mm tyres, the HADRON³ Ultimate or Classic 550 is the right choice.
However, if you plan to ride on various road surfaces (such as gravel) and prefer a minimum tyre size of 28mm, then the recommendation would be the HADRON² All-Road Ultimate 450.

What is the maximum tyre width you recommend for more comfort?
Tyre sizes of up to 64mm are possible, but we advise using tyre sizes between 25mm to 32mm. Our recommended tyre setups are as follows:
- For maximum overall performance: 25mm front and rear, with the option of 28mm on the rear for additional comfort. In general, we recommend this setup for average speeds of 25km/h or higher.
- For increased comfort and for example, in training: 28mm front and rear.
- We recommend 8 bar tyre pressure for 25mm tyres and 6bar pressure for 28mm tyres; however, the maximum tyre manufacturer pressure should be respected and not exceeded.
How to seat tubeless tyre?
First, make sure the rim tape is intact and sealed to the rim bed. So there should be no holes, folds, or tears in the tape, especially around the spoke holes. Secondly, check that the tubeless valve is seated well and fastened (not too tight) in place. Then, regarding the tyre itself, it is important to lubricate the tyre bead and the rim bed with either some soapy water or some tubeless milk when mounting. Then push the tyre bead out of the rim well (the sunken centre part of the rim) as much as possible before inflating. Normally, this will be more than enough to get the tyre to seat, even without a compressor.
If all this fails, the tyre tolerances are probably too far on the loose side. To solve this, a second layer of tubeless tape will tighten the assembly and do the trick.
What are the recommended rider weights and tyre pressures?
Tyre pressures of 120psi should not be exceeded. The maximum permitted system (bike and rider) weights are:
- HADRON/HADRON²/HADRON³ Ultimate Disc Brake: 110kg
- HADRON Ultimate Rim Brake: 100kg
- HADRON Classic Rim Brake: 105kg
- HADRON Classic Disc Brake: 115kg
How do I install my sync ceramic bearings?
When you order the SINC Ceramic Bearings Upgrade Kit, you will receive a user manual with information on how to install and use the component, as well as how to maintain the component.
Can I change the bearing of a freehub?
We do not recommend to transfer the bearings from one freehub to a other. You can transfer the Shimano Freehub to the XDR Freehub, but we do not recommend it. Firstly, you are very likely to damage the bearings since they are generally pressed into the Freehub during manufacturing. Secondly, from a performance perspective, you won't gain any advantages by doing this. The only benefit of ceramic bearings is their longer lifespan.
If you intend to upgrade your standard freehub without ceramic bearings, we recommend purchasing a new freehub instead.
How do I apply the decals to my wheels?
Why is it so hard to mount Continental Tires on my Swiss Side wheels?
Mounting tubeless tyres, such as the Continental Aero 111 or GP5000 STR, can be more challenging compared to traditional tube-type tyres due to the tighter tolerances required for reliable tubeless use. These precise tolerances are necessary to ensure a secure seal and optimal performance, which makes the tyres harder to mount.
Tube-type tyres, like the Continental GP5000, are easier to mount because they have a lighter and more flexible construction. In the past, it was possible to mount tyres without the use of tyre levers. However, with the rise of tubeless technology, tyre levers have become essential for mounting tubeless tyres.
If you’re finding it difficult to mount the tyres, it’s likely due to attempting to do it by hand without tyre levers. We recommend using tyre levers to make the process easier and to ensure the tyre is seated correctly.
