Compatibility

The cockpit is compatible with all standard round clamps (22.2mm diameter) and the most common armrest mounts with M5 or M6 threads.
The cockpit comes supplied with specific countersink screws in both M5 and M6 variants featuring the identical screw head size for optimal interface and clamping of the Swiss Side arm rests.
The cockpit/extensions are compatible with electronic and mechanical shifters.
The cockpit accessories such as the BTA bottlecage and computer mounts, are specific to, and only compatible with the Swiss Side Aero TT-Extensions.

Computer mount
  • Computer mount positioned at the front of the extensions allows for an ideal positioning of the bike computer so that the screen can be seen without having to move the head.
  • Adjustable mount allows to always center the computer mount in between the extensions.
  • Fore and aft positions of the slider clamp for additional 30mm flexibility in positioning.
  • Both Garmin & Wahoo type mounting interfaces are provided.

The Swiss Side AERO Cockpit development project is the culmination of years of aerodynamic and ergonomic innovation in custom cockpit design for triathlon and time trial racing.

Key benefits of an optimized cockpit include not only substantial time savings of over 10 minutes in long-distance triathlons but also enhanced rider comfort, better energy efficiency, and improved aerodynamics and bike handling, which collectively boost both cycling and running performance.

2018

Project 101

For the 2018 IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, Swiss Side in collaboration with Canyon and Sauber Engineering, had initiated ‘Project’ 101, -the development of a custom 3D printed titanium cockpit solution, perfectly shaped to World Champion Patrick Lange’s arms, with a more clean, aerodynamic integration into the bike. The goal was to save 101 seconds from his 2017 World Record time of 8h 01m 40s, to enable him to be the first to break the 8 hour barrier in Kona.

2022 / 2023

Daniela Ryf`s Cockpit

Building on the success of Project 101, Swiss Side developed advanced custom cockpits using a semi-structural 3D-printed plastic shell concept, combining aerodynamic performance, cost efficiency, and integrated hydration/nutrition systems tailored for pro-triathletes. These innovations led to multiple IRONMAN victories, most notably Daniela Ryf’s 2022 World Championship win with a uniquely designed ‘Manta’ cockpit supporting dual hand-arm positions. In 2023, Ryf’s new titanium-based cockpit—featuring adjustable forearm supports and extended hand grips—enabled her to break the long-distance triathlon World Record at Challenge Roth by a 13-minute margin.

2023 - 2025

UCI conform Cockpit

For the 2023 season, Swiss Side developed a custom UCI-compliant cockpit for World Tour cyclist Marlen Reusser, addressing unique challenges such as strict regulations, a maximized forearm angle, and the heightened importance of weight. The solution combined ultra-light 3D-printed Scalmalloy for structural components with adaptable 3D-printed plastic elbow supports and hand grips, all within UCI constraints prohibiting long forearm supports.

2024 / 2025

Adaptable Cockpit

For the 2024–2025 seasons, Swiss Side created a highly modular cockpit system for the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale UCI World Tour Team, designed to be adaptable for multiple riders rather than customised for just one. The concept features a shared carbon fibre TT-extension with interchangeable grips and supports, and rider-specific geometry is achieved through a custom Y-piece made of 3D-printed or machined aluminium alloy, developed in partnership with Deda.
